further details

NSFW?

NSFW means Not Safe For Work and is a shorthand used to refer to a number of types of lewd or obscene content.
for the content approval and moderation purposes of Okebooru, any of the following is considered NSFW and is prohibited.

sexually explicit or implicit content

a post is considered sexually explicit or implicit if it contains one or more of the following:

  • bare or clearly visible genitalia or nipples

  • any sexual act

  • any obscured or otherwise implied sexual act

  • a pose or gesture implying any sexual act

  • a pose or gesture presenting some part of the body in a sexual or sensual manner

excessive cleavage or revealing apparel

judging this type of content is largely subjective and so will be considered on an individual basis.

generally, exposed shoulders, midriff, and thighs are acceptable.
generally, exposed mons, buttocks, or sideboob, underboob, etc. are not acceptable.
generally, deeply cut collars, cleavage cut-outs, thongs, and micro-bikinis are not acceptable.

Okebooru has no formal definition of where the thighs end and the buttocks begin, but you are free to debate about it in the comments.

upskirts or other voyeuristic depictions of underwear

generally, posts which depict a character's underwear are not acceptable.
exceptions are made for depictions which are not apparently voyeuristic or sensual.

for examples of depictions of a character's underwear that are acceptable on Okebooru see the following posts:
>>72
>>128

>>330

these depictions are considered innocent. that is, they are non-suggestive or incidental, i.e. not the only or primary focus of the post.

for examples of depictions of a character's underwear that are not acceptable on Okebooru see the following posts on Gelbooru:

other obscene content

any depiction of vomiting, urination, defecation, or other similar bodily function is not acceptable.
any depiction of maiming, mutilation, severe bleeding, or other similar gore is not acceptable.

uploading posts with content like this is considered a severe violation and you will likely be banned from Okebooru

low quality?

a post may be considered low quality for any of the following reasons:

  • very low resolution

  • excessive compression artifacts

  • apparent lack of artist skill

generally, low resolution means less than 512×512 pixels.

compression artifacts can include blockiness, blurriness, color-banding, and noise.

a post may be considered low quality due to lack of artist skill if it contains traced linework, sloppy linework, incomplete coloring, unintentional asymmetry, anatomical errors, or other similar issues.
generally, this rule does not exclude sketches or other rough work.
generally, this rule does not exclude alternative or experimental styles.

2D?

Okebooru is not concerned with the method or medium of a post, only the resulting style.
e.g., if an image was modeled and rendered using 3D design software, but appears 2D, it will likely be acceptable.

generally, this rule means any IRL posts, cosplay or otherwise, are not acceptable.

Other things to consider

  • you can upload at most 10 posts at a time

  • each post cannot be larger than 32MB

  • your posts will not be visible to other users until they have been approved by a user with moderator permissions
